We've had some great accomplishments, including:
Billy got agreement from the Health Ministry to have them provide medicine that should last through Sep or Oct. This means our biggest challenges right now are food and transportation.
We have secured our incorporation in the state of Oregon and have our EIN. We'll be setting up banking and payments on Monday.
We've had some wonderful people reach out, especially about helping little Diana, who was featured in the very latest NPR Article (see the home page).
We have so many challenges ahead. We are continuing our work on certification as a US non-profit 501(c)(3), and on budget and planning, but the fact is, people are starving, not getting their meds, and inaccessible to aid workers who have no transportation (USAID took that all back and auctioned it off). Today, Billy asked me to pray with him for little Diana (
) and 3 others who need to get to the hospital for their medication, testing, and more. He is unsure how we will arrange transport, and then food so that the medicines can be effective (they don't work without it).
Once I set up payments tomorrow, I beg you all to open your hearts and yes, wallets, to these patients, as we work to get them back to school, back to work, back to life. But first, take note:
As we are not yet a 501(c)(3), any donations do not yet qualify for deduction from US taxes. Not YET. When we do get that approved, the IRS typically will retroactively look back at previous donations and then consider those non-taxable. If you will have filed your taxes by that time, you might have to then file an ammended tax return to get your tax money back.
But, for now, it is your help, the help of smaller donors like myself that we need. I don't care about tax deductions and you might not either. I care about the suffering and the dying that is going on. I care about showing everyone that Americans are still wonderful and generous people and that, even if our government can no longer provide this aid, Americans still care, and we always find a way.
Your assistance is appreciated, and I am confident that payments will be up tomorrow.
Thank you, Bud
